Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) Capabilities Assessment
The SRM Capabilities Assessment is used to evaluate a company’s or a functional area’s level of maturity and/or capability in the core areas of supplier relationship management (SRM). The five areas evaluated are:
- Supplier Management Readiness
- Supplier Segmentation
- Demand Management
- Market Management
- Performance Management
The capabilities assessment can be administered within a department or functional area, or it may be administered enterprise-wide, depending on the goals and objectives of the exercise. A “profile” of the organization is generated from the results of the assessment. This profile is used to discuss the capabilities of the organization and serves as a baseline for future progress. It is used to develop new strategies and to guide the investment of resources in the development of SRM capabilities. A snapshot from a sample profile is shown below:
